History
In 1967, PD&E Electronics commenced operations as a value-added semiconductor company. By the end of its inaugural year, it had garnered 12 local customers. Initially focusing on manufacturing custom assemblies for Transitron and special products for ITT, the company soon expanded through the acquisition of product lines from two major entities: ITT's American Selenium Division and TDR Electronics. This strategic move led to rapid growth throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Utilizing reverse engineering techniques and becoming a reliable second source for hundreds of discontinued components, particularly for the Department of Defense (DOD), PD&E Electronics emerged as a significant supplier of high-voltage assemblies, voltage regulator modules, and power converters. Additionally, acquiring North Hill's RF coil line and Semicon's vast finished goods inventory, exceeding 16 million components, bolstered PD&E Electronics' position in the spare parts market.
Over time, PD&E Electronics developed an extensive semiconductor library, enabling the company to second-source obsolete components previously manufactured by renowned companies such as Varo, Semtech, TRW, Sarkes-Tarzian, Erie, NAE, ITT, GE, Westinghouse, and IRC. As of now, PD&E Electronics has amassed over 30 four-drawer file cabinets containing customer drawings, NSN drawings, manufacturers' catalogs, and D.A.T.A. books dating back to 1964.
